Who did we work with?

Jam 4 Cam started in 2018 as a “battle of the bands” to honor Cameron Fearon, a University of Georgia student who passed away at 19 from metastatic melanoma. Now, it has grown into Jam in the Streets, a 15,000+ attendee music festival in downtown Athens.

This past March, Jam 4 Cam hosted its most impressive lineup yet. Headlined by Goose with support from Moon Taxi, Clay Street Unit, Slater Nalley, Jacoozy, Easy Honey, Wax Monkey and more, the nonprofit founded by Cameron’s college best friends had quite the story to tell.

What was our strategy?

Based on discussion with Jam 4 Cam board members and student interns from UGA, our team established the central goals to base our work on: sharing Cameron's story, raising awareness for melanoma and funds for research, and inviting a crowd to enjoy the jam bands at the event.

We set to work spreading the word to our contacts at local publications, verifying that media was available to cover the event. We also took to national publications to invite them to share Cameron's story.

How’d We Do?

Jam 4 Cam was featured on Fox 5 Atlanta leading up to the event, giving one of Cam's college best friends the opportunity to share the cause and invite attendees. In pre-event coverage alone, Jam in the Streets saw a reach of 103,340,556. Other features included Hoodline Atlanta and Associated Press, along with local hits in Flagpole, The Red & Black, and Online Athens.

Aside from the huge crowd, media interest in Jam 4 Cam grew as well with a 589% year-over-year increase in media reach. There's still more to look forward to with an upcoming magazine features by Terry College of Business and Athens Magazine coming this fall.

Jam 4 Cam raised more than $1.2 million for melanoma awareness and research, ensuring that Cam's legacy lives on. We were grateful to help spread the word and look forward to more music in the Classic City.
